James Joslin is a portraitist and figurative artist working in both oil and graphite. His work has been showcased at the Kensington + Chelsea Art Week, the Phillips Collection, and the Singapore, Brisbane, and Tasmanian International Festivals of Art.
He originally studied music under Simon Emmerson at De Montfort University and has since frequently worked with performers such as Margaret Leng Tan, a leading exponent of John Cage’s music. James’ compositions have been performed internationally, with notable appearances at Klavier Festival Ruhr, Gaudeamus Muziekweek and XXXV Foro Internacional de Música Nueva. His collage piece, Paganini Cut-Up, features on violinist Fenella Humphreys' 2023 BBC Music Magazine awarding-winning album Caprices. James works from his studio on the south coast of the UK and in London. |
